I would guess that many Sears owners may not be aware that the 1951 movie, "Excuse My Dust", featured Sears Motor Buggies... Background.. MGM bought 3 Sears, maybe 4, and one was lost during the shooting in the river. Our Sears Registry notes those surviving cars and current owners. A few years ago, the movie became available on CD.. cheap and a great story. Just Google "Excuse My Dust". Sandy

Sears wheel bearings are no longer available... from Timken or anywhere so far as I have found. Does anyone have a solution to machining the spindles for modern bearings? Specs...bearing source... part numbers?

Most impressive site - thank you. Motor historian David Burgess-Wise suggests the high-wheeler in 'I Married a Witch' (1942) is a Sears (Motor Buggy) Runabaout. I thought it might be a Studio-built Special. Do you happen to know the vehicle(?) of which there's a still image on imcdb.org Best wishes Peter

Thank you for posting info about these vehicles. I was looking for info on these vehicles, as a preface for an article on Sears' later foray into the automotive business, the 1952-54 Allstate.

Thank you for posting this page on Alvaro Krotz. I see a couple of my relatives have written to you as well as he was also my Great Great Uncle, the younger brother of my Great Grandfather Alonzo Krotz from Defiance Ohio. Is there any kind of archive or family collection about his life in photos or documents? I know almost nothing about the Krotz family as my Grandmother Mildred Rosalie Krotz rarely talked about it.

I have contacted you previously but was unable to comply to yourquestions as we were moving from FL to Wisconsin in spring of 2014. I have a Sears Automobile, believe it was built in 1908, my Father bought it directly from Mr.Krotz in his workshop in Rockton. I was a child and with my Father; it was in the 40's. I have a photo of him with the car but have not found it yet. We will be moving again(in Dec) locally to a home with large garage so we can take photos. One appraiser believes it is a hand built vehicle, before mass production. We are interested in selling the vehicle and will contact you for information regarding this in case you know of someone that may be interested. The vehicle isso rare that we don't want to sell it in usual manner. thank you. Carol Gukich
