Welcome to the Switch Mechanical Drawings Page

So you want to see the Switch Mechanincal Drawings for a Sears Automobile? Well, you have found the right page.

These drawings were made by John J. Daly to build a new switch for car 1204. Perhapse they can help you as well. These plans will make a basic 2-way switch.

It appears the original switch was more like a 3-way switch which could be used when a magneto was used. Here are the patent filing papers for the Motsinger Faultless Switch which show these details.

Motsinger Switch Patent Filing Papers.

Notice in the patent papers that two different switch plugs were used based on if you needed the 2-way or 3-way switch.

The switch had a brass plate covering it. The brass plate was etched with at least two and I believe three different images. Two of the three types of switch plate covers are shown below. The third type I believe said something like “Chicago Business Car Company, Chicago IL.” I saw this on a late model (1912) Sears Truck. It may be that this truck was actually a Lincoln, which Sears Sold out to in 1912. The same car had a 12,000 series serial number, which may also lend to the idea of it being a Lincoln.
